Chapter 21 Assessment and Evaluation

(p. 597):

a)   The small bag marbles cost about 5¢ each. The marbles in the medium bag cost about 4.5¢ each. Since the marbles seem to cost less if you buy more, the marbles in the big bag might cost 4¢ each; so there should be about 260 marbles in the bag.
     
b)   To have 600 marbles, it would be best to buy two large bags (that’s 520) marbles and 2 small bags (another 104) marbles. The total cost would be $26. If he bought 3 large bags, it would cost too much.
